1 PURPOSE AND COVERAGE
The purpose of this specification is to provide standards for pipe suitable for use in conveying Gasoline, water, and oil in both the oil and natural gas industries.This specification covers seamless and welded steel line pipe. It includes plain-end, threaded-end, and belled-end pipe,as well as through-the-ftowline (TFL) pipe and pipe with ends prepared for use with special couplings. Although the plain-end line pipe meeting this specification is primarily intended for field makeup by circumferential welding, the manufacturer will not assume responsibility for field welding.
2 PRODUCT SPECIFICATION LEVEL (PSL)
This specification specifies requirements for two products Specification level (PSL I and PSL 2). These two PSL specifications define different levels of standard technical requirements. PSL 2 includes mandatory carbon requirements equivalent notch toughness, maximum yield strength, maximum tensile strength. These and other differences are: They are summarized in Appendix 1. The following requirements apply to PSL I only or PSL 2 only
3 GRADES
The qualities covered by this specification (see notes) are: Standard grade A25, A, B, X42, X46, X52, X60, X65, & X70. and all intermediate grades (grades below) Higher than X42, moderate to two consecutive standards agreed between the purchaser and the manufacturer). PSL I pipes can be supplied in classes A25 to X70. PSL 2 pipes are available in classes B through X80. Class II (CI II) steels are rephosphorized and may be rephosphorized Better thread properties than Class I (CI l). Because it's a class II (CI II) has a higher phosphorus content than Class I (CI I). It may be a little difficult to bend. Pipes of grades X60 and above may not be manufactured. and Pipes ordered of grades X52 and below do not have to be replaced.
4 DIMENSIONS
The size used here is a dimensionless designation derived from the specified outside diameter measured in U.S. units, and provides a convenient way to refer to pipe sizes in text and tables (but (Not used for ordering instructions). Pipe sizes larger than 23/8 are expressed as whole numbers and fractions. Pipe sizes smaller than 23/8 are displayed to three decimal places. These sizes replace the terms ``size designation'' and ``nominal size designation'' used in previous editions of this specification. Users of this specification who are accustomed to specifying nominal sizes rather than 00 sizes are encouraged to familiarize themselves with these new size designations.
- PSL I pipe can be supplied in sizes ranging from 0.405 through 80.
- PSL 2 pipe can be supplied in sizes ranging from 4'/2 through 80.
