Introduction of 94L Stainless Steel Pipes and Tubes

Alloy 94L performs better than other austenitic stainless steels due to its high alloying percentage of nickel and molybdenum. This grade is non-magnetic under all conditions and has excellent formability and weldability. The austenitic structure also provides this grade with excellent toughness down to extremely low temperatures.

94L is a high alloy, low carbon, destabilized austenitic stainless steel grade. Copper is added to the alloy of 94L stainless steel pipe. Therefore, it is highly resistant to strong reducing acids such as sulfuric acid. The low carbon content makes AISI 94L welded pipe easier to manufacture according to ASTM A312 specifications. Although the carbon content is lower, these tubes can be used in high temperature Applications. The high content of nickel in the ASME SA 312 TP94L alloy allows the pipe to achieve excellent performance in high environments. In addition to being a non-magnetic alloy, 94L stainless steel pipe has excellent resistance to stress-related corrosion cracking. The presence of molybdenum in the alloy reduces the occurrence of crevice corrosion. ASTM A312 TP94L is used in medium to High Temperature Applications as well as being particularly suitable for general corrosion Applications.

Mechanical tests such as transverse or longitudinal tensile tests and flattening tests are performed on 94L Seamless Pipe to determine compliance with tensile properties. According to ASTM A312, each 94L pipe must be delivered in a heat treated condition with appropriate heat treatment temperatures and cooling or testing fundamentals.
