Savoy Piping Inc. supplies ASME SA691 electric-fusion-welded chrome moly pipe for high-pressure elevated-temperature service — the ASME companion to ASTM A691, widely referenced on boiler and pressure piping packages.
Order SA691 by grade and class. Grade sets the Cr-Mo plate chemistry; class sets heat treatment, radiography and pressure-test combination. Missing the class is one of the most common enquiry delays we see.
Grades: 1-1/4CR, 2-1/4CR, 5CR, 9CR, 91, 92. ASTM hub: ASTM A691.

ASME SA691 is the ASME designation companion to ASTM A691 for electric-fusion-welded carbon and alloy steel pipe fabricated from pressure-vessel-quality plate for high-pressure service at elevated temperatures.
It is commonly specified on boiler-linked and ASME code piping packages where large-diameter EFW chrome moly is required. Product selection must still follow the governing piping code, design metal temperature and approved material class.
For seamless chrome moly in smaller sizes, see ASTM A335 / ASME SA335. For boiler tubes, see ASTM A213 / ASME SA213.
In practice, purchasers often write ASTM A691 / ASME SA691 together for the same grade family. Confirm which designation and documentation package your inspector or EPC requires — especially class, heat treatment and NDE.

B 9CR steel is an air-hardenable steel, at times retaining down to near atmospheric temperature. Good practice is to allow the steel to cool to 15 F or Lower before subjecting the steel to a tempering treatment or post-weld heat treatment.
ASME SA691 1-1/4CR, 2-1/4CR, 3CR, 5CR, 9CR, 91 Alloy Steel EFW Pipe Ready Stock
ASME SA691 is the ASME companion specification to ASTM A691 for electric-fusion-welded carbon and alloy steel pipe made from pressure-vessel-quality plate for high-pressure elevated-temperature service.
Common chrome moly grades include 1-1/4CR, 2-1/4CR, 5CR, 9CR and 91. Always specify the class number with the grade.
Yes. Grade defines chemistry; class defines heat treatment, radiography and pressure-test combination. Ordering by grade alone is incomplete for A691/SA691.
Yes. We support EN 10204 3.1/3.2 MTCs and third-party inspection (SGS, TUV, Lloyd’s, etc.) when specified.
We supply this product for domestic and export projects with MTC (EN 10204 3.1 standard; 3.2 / TPI on request). Include destination, Incoterms and inspection needs on the RFQ.
