Savoy Piping Inc. supplies ASTM A691 Grade 5CR / ASME SA691 Grade 5CR electric-fusion-welded chrome moly pipe — 5Cr-0.5Mo plate-welded pipe for high-pressure elevated-temperature service in large diameters where seamless chrome moly is impractical.
Typically fabricated from ~5Cr-0.5Mo pressure-vessel plate (A387 Gr.5 class families). Buyers usually need more than a grade name: specify class (heat treatment + radiography + pressure test), OD, wall, ends and documentation up front.
Where Grade 5CR fits: large-diameter refinery and process lines needing 5Cr oxidation/sulfidation resistance. Matching seamless / tube products: ASTM A335 P5 and ASTM A213 T5.
Related grades: 1-1/4CR, 2-1/4CR, 5CR, 9CR, 91. Hub: ASTM A691 grades / ASME SA691.

ASTM A691 / ASME SA691 Grade 5CR is electric-fusion-welded alloy steel pipe fabricated from pressure-vessel-quality plate for high-pressure service at elevated temperatures. Chemistry is about 4–6% chromium and 0.45–0.65% molybdenum.
Unlike seamless ASTM A335 P5, A691 Grade 5CR is made by forming and fusion-welding plate with filler metal. That makes it a practical route for larger OD and heavy fabrication packages, provided the specified class, NDE and heat treatment are met.
Always order grade + class together, and confirm weld procedure / PWHT requirements for the chrome moly chemistry involved.
5CR is the EFW counterpart to P5/T5. Step up to 9CR for more severe high-temperature sulfur service. Use 1-1/4CR / 2-1/4CR for many power steam EFW duties instead of refinery 5Cr chemistry.

ASTM A691 Grade 5CR (~5Cr-0.5Mo) EFW pipe is used for high-pressure elevated-temperature process and refinery piping in large diameters, where chromium-molybdenum resistance is required and seamless product is impractical.
5CR covers many heater/process duties needing ~5% chromium. 9CR is selected when higher chromium is justified for more severe oxidation/sulfidation. Follow the corrosion and piping class — do not substitute on price alone.
Both target ~5Cr-0.5Mo chrome moly performance. A335 P5 is seamless pipe; A691 5CR is EFW plate-welded pipe for larger OD high-pressure service. Use the product form required by the piping specification.
