Savoy Piping Inc. supplies ASTM A53 Grade B (ASME SA53 Gr B) carbon steel pipe for general mechanical and pressure service — water, air, steam and structural lines.
Unlike A106 (seamless high-temp only), A53 covers Type S seamless and Type E ERW, in black or hot-dip galvanized finish. Seamless packages are often dual-certified with A106 Grade B when the MTC supports it.
Typical strength: tensile min 60 ksi (415 MPa), yield min 35 ksi (240 MPa). Carbon max 0.30%, manganese max 1.20%.

ASTM A53 / ASME SA53 covers seamless and welded black and hot-dipped galvanized steel pipe. Grade B is the standard commercial strength grade. Continuous-welded Type F is not intended for flanging; state the intended use on the order.

If the datasheet says high-temperature service and seamless only, quote A106. If it says A53 with Type E ERW or galvanizing, stay on A53 and lock Type S or Type E on the PO.

Standard Specification for Pipe, Steel, Black and Hot-Dipped, Zinc-Coated, Welded and Seamless
This specification Covers Seamless and Welded black and hot-dipped galvanized steel pipe in NPS 1/8 to NPS 26. The steel cantegorized in this standard must be open-hearth, basic-oxygen or electric-furnace processed and must have the following chemical requirements: Carbon Steel Pipes, manganese, phosphorus, sulfur, copper, nickel, chromium, molybdenum, and vanadium. The tubing shall undergo a seamless or welding process. Tension, bend, and flattening tests shall be performed to make sure that it must adhere to the Mechanical Properties of the standard. The hydrostatic test shall be applied, without leakage through the weld seam or the pipe body. Nondestructive electric test shall be made to make sure that the full volume of the pipe must be in accordance with the standard. The purchaser shall have the right to perform any of the inspections and tests set forth in this specification where deemed necessary to ensure that the pipe conforms to the specified requirements.

ASTM A53 pipe Covers Seamless and Welded, Black and Hot-Dipped Galvanized nominal (average) wall pipe for coiling, bending, flanging and other special purposes and is suitable for welding. Continuous-Welded pipe is not intended for flanging. Purpose for which pipe is intended should be stated on order.
The steel for bothSeamless and Welded pipe shall be made by one or more of the following processes: open-hearth, electric furnace, or basic-oxygen. The weld seam of electric-resistance welded pipe in Grade B shall be heat treated after welding.

A53 Grade B is general-purpose carbon steel pipe for mechanical and pressure applications — water, air, steam and structural lines — available as seamless (Type S), ERW (Type E) and, for Grade A, furnace-welded Type F. Black or hot-dip galvanized finishes are common.
A106 is seamless-only pipe for high-temperature service. A53 covers seamless and welded general-purpose pipe (black/galvanized). Seamless stock is often dual-certified A106B/A53B when chemistry and testing allow — confirm on the MTC.
Type S = seamless. Type E = electric-resistance welded (ERW). Type F = furnace-butt welded (typically Grade A). State the type on the purchase order with Grade B.
