A weld neck flange has a tapered hub that transitions smoothly from flange thickness into the pipe wall. It is the preferred ASME form for severe service — high pressure, temperature cycling and vibration — because stress is shared into the pipe rather than concentrating at the flange face.

Weld Neck Flanges (WNRF) are forged pipe flanges used to join pipe, valves and equipment with bolts and a gasket. Facing, bore and pressure class must match the piping class.
Dimensional: ASME B16.5 (NPS 1/2–24) and ASME B16.47 Series A/B for larger OD; EN 1092-1 / DIN for metric projects. Material follows the ASTM forging spec that matches the pipe (A182, A105, A350, A694, B564, etc.).
