API 5L X56 Pipe comes in Seamless and Welded steel line pipe for pipeline transportation systems in the petroleum and natural gas industries. API 5L X56 Pipe is suitable for conveying gas, water, and oil.
The two digit number following the "X" indicates the Minimum Yield Strength (in 000's psi) of pipe produced to this grade.
Manganese sulphides are typical inclusions in all manganese alloyed steels. Because they tend to segregate resulting in reduced impact strength, sulphure content needs to be minimized. We specify maximum 0.007%.
API 5L Specification Covers Steel pipe for pipeline transportation systems in Oil, Natural Gas and Petroleum Industries. API 5L main Purpose is to provide standards for pipe suitable for conveying gas, oil and water.
API 5L Cover BothSeamless and Welded Pipes. It includes plain-end, threaded-end, and belled-end pipe, as well as through-the-flowline (TFL) pipe, and pipe with ends prepared for use with special couplings.

This International Standard is the result of harmonizing the requirements of the following standards:
API Spec 5L;
ISO 3183-1:1996;
ISO 3183-2:1996;
ISO 3183-3:1999.
In the preparation of this second edition of ISO 3183, the technical committee recognized that there are two basic levels of standard technical requirements for line pipe and, therefore, agreed to establish requirements for two product specification levels (PSL 1 and PSL 2). Level PSL 1 provides a standard quality level for line pipe. Level PSL 2 has additional mandatory requirements for chemical composition, notch toughness and strength properties and additional NDE. Requirements that apply to only PSL 1 or to only PSL 2 are so designated. Requirements that are not designated to a specific PSL designation apply to both PSL 1 and PSL 2. A table comparing this edition of ISO 3183 with the with the predecessor International Standard ISO 3183 (all parts) and API Spec 5L and used in the harmonization of these documents is given for information in Annex M.
Pipe manufactured to ASTM A106 Grade A or B are not interchangable with API 5L. Requirements to API 5L X Grades are more stringent; rolled grades are not acceptable and rework is not allowed. Moreover, particular attention is given to toughness and toughness tests for sour services and higher pressure & temperature classes.
Grades covered by this specification are A25 ,A ,B (and the following "X" Grades), X42, X46, X52, X56, X60, X65, X70, X80. The two digit number following the "X" indicates the Minimum Yield Strength (in 000's psi) of pipe produced to this grade.

Special packing’s: Metal or Wooden Cases, Pallets etc. Plastic closes both ends, Hexagonal bundles maximum 2.000 kg with several steel strips, Two tags on each bundle, Wrapped in waterproof paper, PVC sleeve, and in in sackcloth with several steel strips, Plastic caps.
Both ends of each crate will indicate the order no., heat no., dimensions, weight and bundles or as requested. We can also offer customized packaging for API 5L x56 Pipe as per customer's requirement.
Export packaging is geared towards the protection, handling and transport of API 5L x56 Pipe by air or sea freight and, as such, shares many characteristics with export and transport packaging. Utmost care must also be taken to make overseas packaging suitable for long periods of storage.
