API Specification 5L contains 15 Supplemental Annexes that address special conditions and/or additional requirements.
API 5L X65 PSL1 seamless line pipe is used for petroleum and natural gas pipeline transportation systems — oil, gas and related transmission lines ordered to API 5L (often dual-mapped to ISO 3183 L450).
The digits after X are the minimum yield strength in ksi × 1000. X65 means about 65 ksi (450 MPa) minimum yield. Typical tensile minimum is about 77 ksi (531 MPa) — confirm against the ordered edition and PSL tables.
PSL1 is the standard product specification level. Choose PSL2 when the project requires tougher chemistry, notch toughness and extended NDE/documentation.
Seamless is preferred for many smaller OD / high-integrity packages. Large diameters often move to LSAW/DSAW/HSAW welded pipe — follow the approved construction on the PO.
